Comment: | Mentioned in Plutarchus' Moralia, Quaestiones Conviviales 8.1.4, is an unnamed encomiast who sent one Herodes (who was at a banquet) his palm frond and wreath. Plutarch mentions some Sospis as agonothetes, which Farrington (2012), 147 note 471 uses to date this victory to ca. 120 A.D., referencing two more or less datable inscriptions also mentioning Sospis the agonothete, viz. Corinth 8.3 170 & 226; this is of course a very tentative dating. - PK |
