Comment: | The source, Corinth 8.1 15 (a victory list) is dated to 137 A.D. by reference to Lucius (Aelius) Caesar, who was adopted in 136 A.D. by Hadrian and died in 138 A.D., 137 A.D. was thus the only fitting Isthmiad, cf. Farrington (2012), 149 note 496. The contest place is not made explicit, but it is assumed that from Nero onward the Isthmia were once again held at the Poseidon sanctuary on the Isthmos, cf. Farrington (2012), 25. - PK |
