Celebrated in Pindar's 6th Pythian and 2nd Isthmian Ode, as well as mentioned in his 2nd Olympian Ode for Theron, Xenokrates' brother (viz. line 49-51). For the dating I follow Farrington (2012), no. 1.20 as well as p. 105 note 218, based on the presumed date of composition for Pindar's 2nd Olympian Ode (viz. 472 B.C. at the latest, the year of Theron's death) and the assumption from the poems that Xenocrates had an adult son by ca. 490 B.C. Discipline is mentioned as 'harma', chariot - Pi. O. 2.50 refines it to the tethrippon. - PK
