| Comment: | Xenophon records Lakrates among the deaths at Piraeus, in 403 BC. He also calls him an Olympic victor. His victory was probably in the two decades before he died. Moretti argues that since the Spartans did not participate in the Olympia between 420 and 400 (Thuc. V, 49 f.; Xenoph. Hell. Ill, 2, 21—22), the terminus post quem non, for Lakrates, is 424 BC. |
