Pausanias gives the place of origin
as Lepreon of the Eleans (see also entry nos. 204, 213, 256, 263, ID 488). But Moretti 1957, no. 426 has Lepreon as belonging to Triphilia. Hence, Labax' victory is certainly before that time (ca. 350-250 BC). Most of the victors from Lepreon won their victories in the 5th and 4th centuries BC and Labax' statue stands close to other statues dating to the 4th century BC. This gives an approximate date. Moretti 1957, no. 405 suggests the 101st Olympiad (= 376 BC).
