| Comment: | There is a manuscript problem here which is why the name of the pankratiast remains uncertain. The statue of the pankratiast was made by Lysippos, giving an approximate date. He was also the first of the people of Akarnania to win the pankration at the Olympic games. Moretti 1957, no. 416 suggests either a date at the 103rd Olympiad (= 368 BC), or after the 107th Olympiad (= 352 BC), because Sostratos won the pankration-contests of the 104th, 105th, and 106th Olympiads (see entry nos.). |
