Comment: | Pausanias (5.2.5; 6.16.2) records a statue of Timon in Olympia and states that the inscription mentions his victories "at all the Greek games" except the Isthmia. Timon also fought alongside the Aetolians in their expedition against the Thessalians and became leader of the garrison at Naupaktos because of his friendship with the Aetolians. Moretti (1957), no. 601 thinks this may have been during the second Macedonian war. Hence, the estimated date. [DvdL] |
