| Comment: | Both Eusebius and Iulius Africanus record Phaidimos being Ἀλεξανδρεύς. Pausanias, however, tells he is an Aeolian from Troas. Also in the case of Skamandros (see this database: ID), the Greek version of Eusebius mentions Alexandria, whereas the Armenian version tells us Alexandreia Troas. However, Philostratos says Phaidimos originates from Naukratis in Egypt. In spite of this confusion, we may cautiously opt for Alexandreia Troas as Phaidimos' place of origin.
