In a story about Kimon (Hdt. 6.103), Kimon's horses, who won three victories, are compared to those of Euagoras from Sparta. Euagoras, thus, won three times before Kimon won his first victory in 536 BC. 680 BC is the date of the introduction of tethrippon at the Olympic games. Morreti 1957, nos. 110, 113, 117 suggests the 58th, 59th and 60th Olympiads (548, 544 and 540 BC). Pausanias saw Euagoras' offering at Olympia, a chariot without a human figure. Aelian states that Euagoras buried his victorious horses magnificently.
