Moretti (1957), no. 151
Comment: Moretti 1957, no. 151 thinks it likely that Pantares was a victor in either chariot- or horse-racing, because the first Sicilians winning at the Olympic games did so in these disciplines. With respect to the date, Moretti argues that it was probably before 505 BC when the son of Pantares, Kleandros, was ruler of Gela. However, we can only make an estimation: late 6th century BC. Moretti suggests the 68th Olympiad (= 508 BC). IvO 142 mentions, however, ca. 530-520 BC, and the SEG ca. 525 BC.
