Comment: | Pausanias saw the statue of Philon, the work of Glaukias from Aegina. Simonides made an elegiac couplet about Philon, in which it is said that he won two Olympic victories in pugme. Moretti 1957, no. 161 assumes that the two victories should be successive. As other victors for 492 and 484 BC are already known, and we know the rough period in which the sculptor was active, he only views the 70th and 71st Olympiads as the ones at which Philon won his victories. |
