| Comment: | Pausanias saw Tellon's statue for his victory in the boys' boxing-contest. But it did not say who made the statue. The statue base has been found (IvO 147), but was later in the 1st century BC reinscribed on another part of the base (IvO 148). P.Oxy 222 mentions Menalos, instead of Oresthasion. But, as Moretti 1957, no. 231, reasons: there is no contradistinction because Oresthasion at that time was part of the territory of Mainalos. |
