Comment: | Athenaios records how Leophron celebrated his Olympic victory by organising a banquet for all present. He also tells that Simonides wrote an ode to Leophron. Simonides died in 467 BC. Leophron might have been the son of Anaxilas, tyrant of Region. Moretti 1957, no. 247 argues however against this identification. Moretti also suggests that Leophron's victory was in keles. But there is nothing in Athenaios, which suggests this. |
