| Comment: | Ikkos is mostly famous as a physician and best athletic trainer in his time. Stephanos of Byzantium allocates his victory to the 77th Olympiad (=472 BC), but P.Oxy 222 mentions a name ending in 'amos' and from Miletos (Moretti 1957, no. 225). The date may be wrong therefore and remains uncertain. Hence, the dating range around the mid-5th century BC. Moretti 1957, no. 307 suggests the 84th Olympiad (= 444 BC). |
