Comment: | Eukles was the grandson of Diagoras (ID 461). His mother was Kallipateira, daughter of Diagoras. So, he was nephew of Damagetos (entry no. 223), Akysilaos (entry no. 233) and Dorieus (ID 484). His statue base was found (IvO 159). Seen the earlier victories of the family of Diagoras, we may estimate Eukles' victory in the late 5th/early 4th century BC. Moretti 1957, no. 354 suggests the 94th Olympiad (= 404 BC). |
