Gouw writes that Aristides' chance to win at Isthmia too, and become periodoneikes, was perhaps frustrated by a pre-imperial regulation that forbade people from Elis to compete at the Isthmia. One of the first winners of the hippios in the Nemean games, shortly after the discipline was introduced by emperor Hadrianas.
