Comment: Supposedly also mentioned in the Suda/Suidas, s.v. 'Γλαῦκος', its main source is Paus. 6.10.1-3. He gives the origin of Glaukos, though he also adduced the legend that Glaukos was from Boeotian Anthedon, being descended from his namesake the sea-deity. Pausanias enumerates Glaukos' victories: one Olympian, two Pythian, eight Nemean and eight Isthmian. For the dating I follow Farrington (2012), no. 1.17 and p. 104 note 213, based on Pausanias' mention of the sculptor of Glaukos' statue (viz. Glaukias of Aigina). Farrington also adduces and shortly discusses another, perhaps more questionable source, viz. the Λέξεις Ῥητορικαί of the Lexica Suguerina. - PK Apart from one Olympian victory, Glaukos also won twice at the Pythian games, 8 times at the Isthmia and 8 times at the Nemea (Paus. 6.10.3). Moretti 1957, no. 134 mentions many more sources with reference to the greatness of Glaukos as an athlete. - DL Perhaps if we accept the shaky evidence for putting his Olympic victory in 520 BC, his Nemean victories lie between 525 BC and 515 BC. - EK
