Comment: | Unknown athlete from Pindar's 9th Isthmian Ode, which is very incomplete (only 8 lines) and not part of all manuscripts. Its opening talks about Aigina, which is therefore supposedly the origin of the victor. Discipline and victories are unknown, but since part of the Isthmian odes, an Isthmian victory can be inferred, as does Farrington (2012), no. 1.27; I follow Farrington (2012), p. 109 note 228 for the dating, which comes down to the broadest of datings for Pindar's career, since this ode is otherwise not dateable. - PK |
