| Comment: | Nikokles is mentioned in Pindar's 8th Isthmian ode, lines 61-5, of which Kleandros, Nikokles' cousin, is the subject. Kleandros was from Aigina, which is the reason it is presumed his family, Nikokles included, was from Aigina as well. For the dating I follow Farrington (2012), no. 1.28 and p. 109-10 note 229, based on the assumed date of composition of the ode, viz. shortly after the victory over the Persians, and the suggestion that Nikokles might not be older than Kleandros. He was a boxer and won the Isthmia. - PK |
