Comment: | Anth. Gr. 6.246 is a dedicatory epigram from Charmos for Poseidon, dedicating his equestrian equipment from an Isthmian victory, hoping for an Olympic victory. Not much else is known - Lykinos might be the Spartan mentioned in Paus. 6.2.2, incidentally an Olympic victor, but Farrington (2012), 121 note 287 also suggests Charmos might be fictional, though he does think he was real. The suggested relation between Charmos and Pausanias' Lykinos leads to Farrington's wide date range, which is followed here. - PK |
