The inscription is heavily damaged. Brunet's reconstruction (Brunet no. 54) suggests Ἐφέσ]ιͅοͅς ? as a restoration for the first part of the first line. Farrington however, favors the idea that the first line ( [—]ι̣ο̣ς̣ Δι̣[—] ) is part of the person's name.
Furthermore, the editor of I.Ephesos 1133 suggests an identification with a Damaratos (Moretti (1957), nos. 736 and 739 and again (1992), nos. 984, 987). Multiple arguments against this identification (noted by Farrington, Moretti and Brunet) exist, wherefore in these Moretti-numbers are not added in the prosopography of this athlete below.
Only after the recording of the last victory on the inscription, at the Olympia in Ephesos, there is mention of a discipline (diaulos, men's category). In ll. 2-3, Brunet has suggested διͅ[αυλδρόμ]/ος?] as a possible but questionable reconstruction.
Won the periodos multiple times. Based on his continuous use of the title aleiptos throughout his life, he remained unbeaten (Gouw). In total, 44? Victories: Olympia (4), Delphi (2), Argos (14?), Isthmia (14?), Athens (9?), Ephesos.
The athlete might be the same as the one in I.Ephesos 1613 (Farrington 5.9, Brunet 23).
