Eurybates was leader of the Argive volunteers who had come to help Aegina against the Athenians and was killed, apparently in a land battle on Aegina by Sophanes Hdt. 6.92.1-3, 9.75.1, Paus. 1. 29.5). The fighting between Athens and Aigina probably belongs to the period ca. 487-ca. 484 BC (Scott 2005, 551).
