Comment: | An inscription deriving from the Argive Heraion, gives a partial list of victories won in games at Nemea, Tegea, Kleitor and Pellene. The dedicator is a man named Timokles, who most probably is the winner of those contests. This is the oldest mention of a st of games at Kleitor in Arkadia, probably the Korasia. The games at Tegea are probably the Aleaia in honour of Athena Alea. The inscription is dated before 460 BCE, a fact which leads us to believe that he was not originated from Argos, but more likely from Mykenai. |
