Comment: | According to Farrington (2012), this athlete was probably active somewhere between c. 225-250. The origin and discipline of this athlete are unknown. Inscription IG VII 49 mentions 'Pythia in Magnesia'. In Asia Minor two places with the name 'Magnesia' are known: Magnesia ad Sipylum and Magnesia ad Meandrum. However, according to the database of Pleiades, only Magnesia ad Sipylum is also just described as 'Magnesia'. Therefore this city is interpreted as Magnesia ad Sipylum. - YP |
