The epigram, which is thought to be the one that Pausanias read on the statue base, mentions two victories at the Isthmia, this is entry 1/2.
Both these victories are questioned by scholars. Farrington n. 684 writes: 'However, Moretti (Moretti, Olympionikai, no. 383) notes that Eleans were not allowed to compete at Isthmia and thus suggests that the first word of the epigram should be ‘Πύθια’, a reading that is supported by the fact that Pausanias clearly refers to two Pythian victories.'
