| Comment: | According to Caldelli, Fränkel (I.Pergamon) and Cagnat interpret the last lines as a statement that Hippolochos went to Rome to compete in the games, i.e. the Capitolia. If true, the inscription should not be dated to the first century BC-first century AD, as the Capitolia were first organized in 86 AD. Robert, however, suggests that Hippolochos went to Rome because of a trial or unresolved difficulties with magistrates. |
