| Comment: | Eurymenes was trained by the philosopher Pythagoras, who lived from ca. 570 until 495 BC. Hence, the dating. Moretti 1957, no. 123 suggests to date Eurymenes' victory at the 62nd Olympiad (= 532 BC). Pythagoras gave him a diet of meat, instead of the common diet of cheese and dried figs. But see Paus. 6.7.10 for a diet of meat introduced by a certain Dromeus from Stymphalos. |
