| Comment: | There has been some confusion whether Phrynon was victor in the stadion-race or the pankration. Iulius Africanus mentions him as stadion-victor; Eusebius' tekst lacks the information on the discipline of Phrynon. Diogenes Laertius however calls Phrynon a victor in pankration and Hippys mentions Arytamas as the stadion-victor of the 36th Olympiad (see also ID Arytamas). Following Moretti 1957, no. 58, it seems therefore most likely that Phrynon was the victor in pankration. |
