Comment: | Pausanias records Paianios' victory at the 141st Olympiad (=216 BC) and his loss against Kapros (ID 1186 in this database) in the next Olympic games (142nd = 212 BC). Moretti (1957), no. 583 notes that the former was the 141st Olympiad, the latter the 142nd. He also won at the Pythia: first time in pugme for paides (222 or 218 BC?), and later on the same day, pugme and pale for andres (214 BC). The statue base for his victory at Olympia is preserved (IvO 179). [DvdL] |
