Comment: | Diodorus Siculus (20.37) mentions Apollonides as victor at the 118th Olympiad. Both Eusebius (Chron. l. 248, ed. Christesen) and Iulius Africanus (Chron. F65 l. 218, ed. Wallraff) record Andromenes from Corinth. Andromenes won however also at the 119th Olympiad and Moretti regards his mention at the 118th Olympiad therefore as an error. After all, his victory at the 119th Olympiad would then have been recorded as his second victory, which is not the case. [DvdL] |
