| Comment: | Pausanias (6.16.6) mentions Seleadas from Sparta as victor in men's wrestling. A certain Seleidas, son of Alexandridas, from Sparta appears in a victor list of the Lykaia in Arkadia (IG V.2, 549 ll. 31-32 = Syll(3), 314). The latter is dated to 316 BC, which provides a time range of Seleadas'/Seleidas' athletic activities from ca. 325 to 275 BC. Moretti (1957), no. 487 suggests the 118th Olympiad (=308 BC) for his victory at the Olympia. Moretti (1992) stress that he and Ebert (1969) agree that this is not the same athlete as IvO 184 (Person ID 1158; Moretti (1957), no. 567). |
