Comment: | The statue of Timosthenes was made by Eutychides (Paus. 6.2.7), who is identified with Eutychides, the pupil of the famous artist Lysippos of Sikyon (Plin. Nat. 34.66; 34.87). As Lysippos worked during the reign of Alexander the Great, Eutychides was most likely active in the decades thereafter. Moretti (1957), no. 494 mentions that the heydays of Daippos were around the time of the 121st Olympiad (= 296 BC). [DvdL] |
