| Comment: | The statue of Oibotas was only erected some 300 years after his victory, during the 80th Olympiad (= 460 BC) according to Pausanias (6.3.8; 7.17.6-7). The city's name Dyme was later replaced by Paleia. Philostratos refers to a victor from Dyme winning at one of the first thirteen Olympic games. First of the Achaeans to win an Olympic victory, and Oibotas was honoured as a hero (Paus. 7.17.13-14) |
