| Comment: | Introduction of pale for paides at the Olympic games (37th Olympiad = 632 BC). Hipposthenes was the first victor. From the 39th Olympiad, he won pale for andres at 5 successive Olympic games (Eusebius; Iulius Africanus; Pausanias). His son, Hetoemokles, won five Olympic victories in pale (see ID Hetoimokles) (Paus. 3.13.9; Eusebius; Iulius Africanus). |
