Comment: | Miltiades was to become the first tyrant of Chersonesos (Thrace), shortly after his Olympic victory. The dates are not exactly certain, but Moretti (1957, no. 106) suggests his victory took place in 560 BC (= 55th Olympiad). He later offered a horn of Amaltheia in the treasury of the Sikyans at Olympia (Paus. 6.19.6) Pausanias confused the tyrant of Chersonesos with one of his descendants who fought at Marathon: Miltiades, son of Kimon (Hdt. 6.103) |
