Comment: According to Pausanias, Astylos won three times both the stadion and the diaulos; thus six victories. P. Oxy 222 adds to this a hoplite-victory at the 75th Olympiad (= 480 BC) and Moretti contemplates whether Astylos could not have won the hoplite-races at the 73rd and 74th Olympiads too. His name might have appeared in P.Oxy 222 also as hoplite-victor at the 76th Olympiad (=476 BC). This reconstruction is however uncertain. (See Moretti 1957, no. 219) Astylos won his victories at the 74th and 75th Olympiad as a Syracusan, infuriating the Krotonian citizens.
