Comment: Pindar in his second Nemean ode suggests that the family of Timodemos won four victories at the Pythia, eight victories at the Isthmia, and seven at the Nemea. In Athens, he won countless times. The Olympia are curiously absent, but the scholia tells us that Timodemos won an Olympic victory after Pindar wrote his ode for Timodemos' Nemean victory. Most commentators have dated Pindar's second Nemean ode to 485 BC. Pindar died in 443 BC, giving a secure timeframe for his victory. Moretti 1957, no. 262 suggests the 80th Olympiad.
