Comment: | Mentioned in P.Oxy no. 2082 (fr. 4) in part 17; I have not seen the source, and rely on Farrington (2012), no. 1.79 and p. 125 notes 315-6. The dating is based on the firmly dated two Olympic victories of Pythagoras in 300 and 296 B.C. by Moretti (1957), nos. 500 and 511, Farrington construes his date range around these. He additionally mentions two Pythian, five Isthmian and seven Nemean victories; stadion is all he gives for discipline. - PK |
