Comment: Paus. 6.17.2 states that Philinos won five Olympic, four Pythian, four Nemean and eleven Isthmian victories for 'running' ('dromos'). The date range is that of Farrington, explained at Farrington (2012), p. 128 note 329 and partly based on Moretti's (1957) dating of the Olympic victories. - PK Two of Philinos' victories in stadion at the Olympia are securely attested by Eusebius and Iulius Africanus as in the 129th and 130th Olympiad (264 and 260 BC). Moretti (1957), no. 551, 553, 556 suggests that two others were in daulos at the same Olympic games (though it could equally have been in hoplites). The third one is more difficult and is provisionally considered another diaulos-victory at the 131st Olympiad (256 BC). However, we could more cautiously place this victory in the period from 268 to 256 BC. [DvdL]
