Alternative name "Λίβυς", i.e. ´the Libyan´ in Armenian version of Eusebius according to Moretti (see also the edition by Christesen) - JS/CT
A Ti. Kl. Iason Magnus was priest of Apollo around 177-180 CE (SEG 9.172). Though Magnus may be a common name as pointed out by Moretti, SEG 60.1838 (late 2nd c CE) records a Ti. Kl. Iason Magnus as victorious and, therefore, we may indeed identify this Ti. Kl. Iason Magnus as the Magnus recorded by Eusebius. Later, Moretti (1970 and 1992) argues for the belonging of this athlete to an important family of Cyrene in the age of the Antonines, that of Tiberius Claudius Jason the Great, Πανέλλνμ· in 157 AD.
