The information comes from the fragmentary Bacchyl. Ep. 12. Teisias probably belonged to a family who had accumulated thirty victories in the festivals of Periodos.
The fragmentary Bacch. Ep. 12 bears the title '????? ????????? ????????? ?????', corrected to '???????' by Blass (Jebb 1905, 334-335). Ll. 35-40 refer to thirty victories in the Pythia, the Isthmia and the Nemea and perhaps the Olympia (Sevieri 2007). Since athletes from Ceos had by the mid 5c BC won seventy Isthmian victories alone , the figure of 30 probably refers just to the family or wider kinship group of Teisias, rather than to all the population of Aigina.
