Comment: The honorand of Bacchyl.10. is a member of the Oeneis tribe of Athens and apart from his Nemean victories he won at the Isthmus in the stadion and hippios dromos and we can assume he won at a running event in Nemea as well. There are also records of victories at Thebes, probably Herakleia or Ioleia, at Hekatobia in Argos, in Sikyon (Pythia?) at Pellene and throughout Euboea. As for the date, if we consider the events in Bacchylides' career, Bacchyl. 10 may have been written for a victory obtained in an odd year between 499 and 431 BCE.
