Comment: | Eupolemos also won the pentathlon twice at the Pithia and once at the Nemea. His victory was contested; two umpires were in favour of his victory, but one attributed the victory to a certain Leon of Ambrakia (Epirus). Leon complained and according to Pausanuas (6.3.7) the umpires were fined. However, it seems that Eupolemos was still recorded as the victor. The statue of Eupolemoas was made by Daedalus of Sikyon. Diodorus records his name as Eupolis rather than Eupolemos. - DL |
