Moretti (1957), no. 681-683 suggests Hekatomnos was a citizen of Miletos (Phleg. FrGH 257 F12) rather than Elis (Euseb. Chron. l. 346 (ed. Christesen) = African. Chron. F65 l. 293 (ed. Wallraff)), because Hekatomnos was a name unknown from Elis and very common in Miletos. Therefore, Moretti thinks Elis might have given Hekatomnos an honorary citizenship. [DvdL]
