According to the LSJ, the man's origin (Λα<ο>[δι]κεὺς μητροπολείτης) needs to be interpreted here not as the man being a citizen in Laodikeia ánd in Metropolis, but rather as denoting that this Laodikeia (in Syria) is the metropolis of other cities (cf. LSJ μητροπολίτης A.2). NB: According to the inscription he held citizenship in other cities, too, but doesn't specify those (ll. 3-4).

The only athlete to mention the dates for festivals (e.g. the pugme finals of the Nemean games took place on the 30th of december 214 AD). Eirenaios was also the first from his city to participated in all three age categories (μόνος ἐγὼ ἐκ τῆς ἑαυτοῦ πατρίδος ἀπὸ πάσης κρίσεως ἀγωνισάμε) (Gouw).
