Comment: According to Farrington (2012) this athlete won the Isthmia twice, probably in 179 and 181 (according to Moretti). Hermodoros was a high priest for life at the athlete's associaton, xystarch, director of the imperial bathhouse, temple ward of Sarapis, and member of the Mouseion in Alexandria. In the inscription he mentions that some of his competitors withdrew at the sight of his registration for a festival. He left his athletic career at the age of 25 due to 'dangers and jealousy' (κινδυνους καὶ φθόνους). His brother, Sarapion (Person ID 3945) was also a wrestler (Gouw). In total, 37+ victories: Delphi, Corinth (2), Argos (3), Rome (2), Puteoli (2), Neapolis (2), Nikpolis (2), Athens (5), Smyrna (5), Pergamon (3), Ephesos (3), Epidauros, Rhodos, Sardis, Sparta, Mantineia, Alexandria, and 'many other prize games'. Same as Person ID 227.
